The last class of the day was a special one "Rescue Dog of the Year".

We asked each owner to write a few lines of their dog's stories.  These are a few extracts from some sad stories with very happy endings:

“I was on my way to the shelter because my owner said I was out of control and she could no longer cope with me…..Luckily, my new mam saw me and took me…..she took me to training classes and worked hard to socialise me…..I have settled down and enter obedience classes with my new mam.  I am very happy”
                                                             Rebel

“I was dumped in a garden when I was 3 months old.  Someone from the Dogs Trust helped me.  My new owner wanted a small dog to look after and she chose me and we are best friends and have lots of fun together…. “
Scamp

“I was taken by the RSPCA….I have been rehomed 4 times before mummy and daddy came to get me.  Now I live a pampered life, destroying teddies, playing a the beach, going on holidays and just generally being mischievous.” Bob

“I was found at about 4-5 weeks old.  My owner hand fed me and cared for me.  My stepbrother befriended me and helped me along… I am very happy…. I do shows with my stepbrothers and we have lots of fun.”
Jess

“I was rescued after being thrown from a car at about 8 weeks old…..The cat and dog shelter looked after me until my new owner came along….I do obedience classes and enter shows and share my home with 3 other rescue dogs and a cat and I am very happy.”
Rex

“I lived with 2 people who left me outside all day.  I was very lonely and sad so I barked a lot so was sent to the cat and dog shelter.  Then my new mum Irenee cam for me, and my life changed.  I have a whole house to play in….walks, lovely dinners and everything!  I am 15 now and still love my life”
Lucy

"Kept in a kitchen for first 2 and a half years…undernourished, not wanted or socialised…owners didn’t want her or have time for her…I took her 6 months ago and have never regretted it." - written about Gloria

“….she’s got her problems, but I wouldn’t change her for the world…”  written about Nikki
