Rotti Fest in Aid of SHAKThe people that adopted big Lennox, are trying to organise this..... What does everyone think?
Right where do I start....
I am trying to organise a Rottie weekend at our farm in Leicestershire towards the end of August to raise money for the Rottie Den Fund and SHAK rescue.
The idea is that it is open to all members of the Den, 2 legged and 4 with proceeds (less costs such as portaloos and BBQ food) being split between SHAK and the Den Fund. It would run from Saturday morning until Sunday morning (ish), and would include a BBQ on the saturday night, a full cooked breakfast could be provided for those that want it on the Sunday morning.
The Dogfather has kindly offered to hold a tracking seminar, and also do a demo with his Rotties. If anyone has any other skills that they would like to offer such as grooming advice, nutrition, showing, health issues etc then please let me know. I would like this weekend to be fun, entertaining, but also something that hopefully people can learn from and want to do again.
Also if anyone has anything rottie (or dog) related to sell, such as grooming equipment, prints, etc - or indeed anything that they think the Den members would like and are willing to make a donation to the funds then please let me know!
Basic camping facilities (cold running water and a portaloo!) can be provided from the Friday night until the Sunday morning, there are 2 secure paddocks for exercising the dogs, and miles and miles of countryside to explore for the fitter amongst you.
Hopefully other 'attractions' will be added later, but I am currently trying to organise a mini agility course purely for entertainment value.
Further info will be added as and when its available, but at the moment I am trying to judge whether this would be something that ppl were interested in attending or not before I go full steam ahead.

Hello everybody! We're big Lennox's adoptors and we've just got round to joining up (at long last).
As Wyliecat's posted, we're organising RottieFest 2009 - which is basically a fun gathering with food and drink, some demonstrations, a number of fun dog classes to enter, and an evening BBQ. Overnight camping/caravanning for those wishing to party on the Saturday night with cooked breakfast on Sunday morning and a mass dog walk in beautiful countryside.
We're open to more suggestions of things to do on the day. Email us at rottiefest@keythorpe.co.uk
Trustee - if you don't believe in the pack thing, feel free to arrange your own demo for the day - email us at the above.
It's looking to be a good fun weekend...

Thanks for the offer and under normal circumstances I would jump at the chance to offer a demonstration. Unfortunatley I am unable to attend due to a prior engagement on the Sunday morning.
However feel free to question anything I post on the forum ill be more than happy to provide answers.

I had thought about that but its a long drive back to Newcastle at that time of night or earlyin the morning....and if every one is having a drink I wont be able to resist.

Sounds like your bike needs to get a puncture so you can't do the 54 miles...
hmmm.... a day with Rotties and beer
or 54 miles on a bike....
You could always bring your bike with you and do your 54 miles down here!!!! Or do it part of the way back on the Sunday!

Heidi had a great time and is now worn out, thanks for a great afternoon and special thanks to Big Steve and Shaz for judging best rescue, Heidi was getting fed up of not winning anything but eventually she won 2nd prize in best rescue, really proud of her, she behaved like a perfect lady all day and after only having her with me for the last four months, she's a very special girl and will always be the best to me.
ps. Hope the day was profitable for Shak and help you to help more dogs.

Had a brilliant day at the Rottie Fest. Only went for a couple of hours and ended up staying for 9 . It was lovely to meet Sharon and Stephen at last so thank you both for helping to make the day so enjoyable for me. Chewie and Lennox became friends and Chewie even managed to win 2 first prizes. Not bad for a dog who isn't even a rottweiler!!! He won the fancy dress class. We tied his bandana round and his head and borrowed Stephens sunglasses and he went as a Rock Star He also won the class for dog who looked most like it's owner(how I wish I was tall and slim and dark ) The judge said we won because both Chewie's and my legs were the same length!!!! Some people can be very cruel. Sorry more Shak people were unable to make it as it would have great to meet you all but maybe next year.

Saw Big Stephen taking lots of photos, my cameras batteries failed even after charging for a week, my friend took some pics but can't find the lead to her phone, so it's up to everyone else, the only one I have of the big day is when we got home and Heidi went into a deep sleep dreaming of all them handsome men, I mean Rotties

There's photos on my camera but I'm such a technovirgin I'll have to get Johnnie to transfer them across. Mind you most of them are of a stunning Rottie boy!!....I'm sure he's called Lennox!! Rescued by Adam and Serena from some place called SHAK! Ha Ha!
