Harlie's Story.....Harlie came to us as a beautiful 16 month old girl. She had a history of snapping unexpectedly when touched on the head, and no-one knew why.
After several weeks in our care, Harlie was diagnosed as suffering from Masticatory Muscle Myositis, a condition that causes serious muscle wastage around the head, including her not being able to use her jaw muscles which results in serious problems when it comes to tea time.
Harlie was in horrendous pain, and we believe this was the ultimate reason for her being a little bit bad tempered, as after treatment she has shown she can be such a loving and affectionate dog. However, her head will probably never return to its previous glory, and her eyes have also appeared to sink into her head, due to the damage to the muscles around her eyes. She needed an entropian operation on her eyes, which is basically where strips of skin were cut out of her face, and her eyelids pulled back from her eyeball.
Harlie has now turned two, but because of her health issues, we can probably never rehome her. We are working on a retirement plan for her so she can enjoy her life the best she can and not just sitting in a kennel. I will keep you posted once this develops.

Wow girl... A few days at the farm and you look so different! The weight you have gained is fantastic and seeing you look so relaxed wagging that little stump of yours was amazing! Keep it up Harlie xx

When she was with me she even managed to pull her stitches out of her eyes three times, not a nice site!!
