I am running the Great North Run on 20th September to raise some funds for SHAK.

It's a half marathon so thats 13.1 miles and as an added incentive to keep me running (and at my age I need all the help I can get), I would like to dedicate each mile to a special SHAK dog past or present.  There have been so many and all with their own stories, but I'll start the list with:

1  - Scooby - our famous mascot
2  - Harlie   - a special girl who has had so many problems
3  - Bruno   - who we sadly lost after a long illness
4  - Millie    -  for Helen
5  -
6
7
8
9
10
11
12
13 - Roman  - who made such an impact on everyone and didn't give up

there are a few gaps to fill on the list, so if you have any names to add, let me know and maybe sponsor me ? (or maybe place bets on whether I survive or not).

I'll post details on how to sponsor me later

thanks for your support
Stephen

That's a beautiful idea mate. How about mile 8, my lucky number, for the little man who started all this Shak?

Sponsor via paypal: shak@shak.org.uk

Oh I don't know who to add!! I love them all!  OK because it's close to the end to keep you focused Mile 12 for all the ones we've yet to help! I'm pledging £5 for that and £5 in memory of dear Roman and £5 for Scooby (don't tell the other dogs but he's my favourite!!).

Just to let you all know this is Stephen's 7th Great North Run!! So a round of applause for that!

And just a note for you Stephen I know your training schedule and that you've already run when you'd rather have not; you've run through minor injury and discomfort; you've run in the pouring rain; and even run when your MP3 has packed up!!
It shows wonderful qualities of self-discipline, self-motivation and dedication. SHAK is lucky to have you!!
Helen and I will be there at the end of the race to welcome you back.
And for all SHAK volunteers and supporters there'll be a table booked at the Lakeside Inn QE2 Country Park (close to Ashington, Northumberland) on the race night for a drink and meal.
Please pm me by the end of this week so I can organise numbers.

This is from Eileen (Leicester Branch £10 sponsorship paid via PayPal:

This £10 if for big Stephen for his half marathon. Although he wasn't a Shak dog, would you please dedicate it in memory of Bentley the Poundie, a lovely staffy boy I helped to transport who unfortunately died of parvo a few days after reaching safetly. Many thanks Eileen
